UnitedNations Office on Drugs and Crime

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and crime. The UNODC is subject to the ECOSOC/UN General Assembly, which processes and approves the UNODC’s budget.

There is a policy forum for each of the two areas: the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) and the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ). The CND assists the ECOSOC in supervising the application of the international drug control treaties, while the CCPCJ works to improve international action to combat national and transnational crime, including terrorism, and the efficiency and fairness of criminal justice administration systems.

The UNODC supports its Member States through capacity building and technical support, research and analysis and assists its Member States in transforming international treaties into national law and practice. The UNODC hereby contributes to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Denmark actively supports the UNODC through financial contributions - among others to combat maritime crime, including piracy, and terrorism.
